Mangalore, Aug 25: Three photojournalists of Coastal Digest, The Hindu and Vijay Karnataka sustained injuries as electric crackers were alighted during the inaugural ceremony of ‘StateCon-2012’, a convention of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) held here at TMA Pai Auditorium on Saturday August 25.

The incident occurred when the photojournalists were capturing the pictures of the formal inauguration of ‘StateCon-2012’ by Jagadish Shettar, Chief Minister of Karnataka, the crackers filled with paper bits and confetti exploded with force, resulting in three injuries at the dais.

While Eshwaraj and Sudhakar Yermal sustained minor injuries, Suresh Vamanjoor of coastal digest sustained an eye injury.

No chaos arose at the programme, but Suresh Vamanjoor was rushed to a private hospital and was later shifted to the Government Wenlock Hospital.

Hearing the unfortunate incident, Suresh Kumar, Minister for Karnaraka Urban Development and N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, visited the hospital and assured to take action against the organizing committee.

The photographers filed a complaint in Barke Police Station against the organizers and the investigation is on.

It is reported that Sahil Zaheer of Platform Productions was the event manager.

As per the latest reports police have arrested Sahil Zaheer and Anif in this regard.
