Mangalore, Aug 26: The government and the society have the onus of providing a platform for the physically challenged persons to live their life with dignity and self respect said Muzrai minister Kota Shreenivas Poojari.
 
He was speaking at a health card distribution programme organized on the sidelines of physically challenged persons’ convention and free health check up camp organized in association with the Bantwal branch of D K district physically challenged persons union.

The programme was organized under the auspices of Bantwal town municipality council.
 
The local administration bodies must study the needs of people while implementing the projects of the state and the central government, he said and added that the interest of beneficiaries should be given importance.
 
Bantwal MLA B Ramanath Rai in his inaugural address said that the physically challenged persons who are ignored of social justice for various reasons should be brought into the mainstream society.
 
Bantwal town planning authority president A Govinda Prabhu, DK district physically challenged persons union convener Vagga Gopalkrishna Prabhu spoke. Town Municipality standing committee president Vasanthi Gangadhar, R V Jathana, Sadananda were present.
 
DK district physically challenged union president Dr Murulidhar Nayak welcomed the audience. Town municipality president Dinesh Bhandary delivered key note address.

On the occasion a memorandum consisting 15 demands were submitted to the minister by the DK district physically challenged persons union. More than 150 physically challenged persons were part of the programme.
