Israeli Missile Kills Militant in Egypt

Cairo, Aug 27 (IANS): A motorcycle-borne militant was killed in Egypt by a missile launched from an Israeli plane, Xinhua reported.

The militant -- identified as Ibrahim Nasser, a Bedouin -- was hit while he was riding a motorbike in Rafah area, 15 km from the Egypt-Israel border.

The man was arrested a few days ago by the Egyptian army but was released later.

Officials told Xinhua Nasser was involved in killing some Israeli tourists near the border and was listed as terrorist in Israel.

He said that it was due to the failure of the Egyptian army to strike a deal with militants to stop violence in the Sinai peninsula that forced the Israeli side to intervene.

At least 16 Egyptian soldiers were killed by militants in Rafah Aug 5.
