Mumbai, Aug 27: The fourth annual general meeting of Kannadiga Patrakartara Sangh was held at Karnataka Sangh auditorium, Matunga (West) here on Sunday August 26.
Chandrashekar Palettady, Sangh president presided over the meeting.
Palettady in his presidential address said that the importance of the Sangh is known by the presence of 67% of the members. I wish it to be 100% in the coming days and in this way let us show our unity to the society, he said. He said the All India convention of Kannada Journalist Association which was organized in the previous year (January) is a role model for all.
Shashikanth Sandboar, vice-president of Mumbai Marathi Journalist Association said that the Kannadiga Sangh is an inspiration for unity between the Kannada and Marathi communities.
Grace Pinto, managing director of Rayan International Educational Institution lauded the contributions of Rons Bantwal, towards the prosperity of the Sangh.
Chandrakanth Shetty Ithala, young journalist who died recently was also remembered on the occasion.
Kadandale Parari Prakash S Shetty held the election procedure for the year 2012-15 and 15 members were selected among the nominations for 15 different posts. Chandrashekar Palettady, Daya Sagar Chauta, Rons Bantwal, Harish K Hejamadi, JP Kusuma, Suresh Acharya, Gurudath S Punja Mundkur, Lawrence Coelho, Premnath B Shetty, KN Suresh, Jaya C Poojary, Shyam M Hande, Janardhan S Puriya, Babu K Belchada were the elected members.
Prakash Shetty, advocate asked all the members to actively take part in the Sangh activities and said that the journalists play the main role in highlighting the wrong happenings. Journalists have to put in of lot of effort towards the betterment of the society, he added.
Rons Bantwal, chief secretary briefed about the activities of the association. He said unity among members is the main reason for the association’s growth. He asked all the members to work sincerely towards upliftment of the Sangh.
I R Shetty, prominent chartered accountant was elected as the treasurer for the year 2012-13.
On the occasion, Palettady honoured Sadanand D Nayak, Kadandale Parari Praksh L Shetty, Nithyananda Kotian, vice-president of Billawa association, KN Suresh, Thriya Jyothi, Shridhar S Suvarna, Om Das Kannangar for their service.
Daya Sagar Chauta, secretary compered and Premnath B Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.
