Court Raps CBI on Rural Health Scheme Probe

Lucknow, Aug 30 (IANS): The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Wednesday rapped the CBI for the tardy progress in the multi-crore rupee National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scandal.

A bench of Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and Justice A.K. Singh asked the investigating agency why the progress was so tardy.

Hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) on the alleged irregularities related to the health scheme and the murders of two chief medical officers, the bench summoned the investigating officers of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Sep 12.

The CBI gave a status report on the case in a sealed envelope.

The court was told that the state government had given a go-ahead for the prosecution of 22 doctors and other government employees.
