Dhoni voices support for U-19 skipper


New Delhi, Aug 30 (IBNS): Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni on Thursday voiced his support for Indian Under-19 cricket team skipper Unmukt Chand, who has not got the permission from St Stephens College to appear for the  first year Bachelor of Arts (BA) examinations.

Dhoni tweeted: "Marks for sports takes back seat attendance for now takes centrestage.this shows how much importance sports has in INDIA.sad to hear."

According to reports, Chand has been denied from appearing for the second semester examinations due to low attendance.

As per the norms of the college, students need to have 33.33 per cent annual attendance under the sports quota.

India Under-19 side defeated Australia Under-19 team by six wickets in the final match to lift the ICC Under-19 World Cup trophy in Australia's Townsville city on Sunday.

Chand played a crucial knock of 111 runs and remained not out till the end ensuring India win the final clash and lift the trophy.
