Mumbai, Sep 1: The 158th birth anniversary of Shri Narayan Guru was celebrated along with various religious programmes by the Billawa association here at Brahma Shree Narayan Guru temple, Santacruz (East) on Thursday August 30.
L V Amin, president of Billawa association presided over the programme. Kripashankar Singh, former home minister was the chief guest for the occasion.
Katapadi Shankar Poojary, president of Udupi zilla panchayat, Kiran Kumar, president of Udupi city corporation, Chandrashekar Palethady, president of Kannada Pathrakarthara Sangh, Jagadish Suvarna were the main guests.
On the occasion, Kripashankar Singh released the book ‘Glance at the Life of Jaya C Suvarna’ published by Guru Publications.
Nithyanand Kotian, vice-president gave a brief introduction of the book about the life of Jaya C Suvarna.
The book on the life of Jaya C Suvarna was earlier released by Kannada Sahitya Parishad, Maharashtra in 2007. Now the English version was released so that youth find inspiration from his services.
“We are enjoying the good deeds of Narayan guru”, said Katapady Poojary. “If we carry out any work with creativity and pure mind, we will succeed”, he added.
Kiran Kumar in his address marked the importance of Narayan Guru’s principles. If we follow his principles, country will progress, he added.
L V Amin in his presidential address said that unity is a prime factor while working towards the society. “Let us all work together leaving aside caste and religion and let Jaya C Suvarna be inspiration for all our works”, he said.
On Thursday morning ‘Om Nama Narayana Nama Shivay’ mantras were recited by Prabhakar Sasihithlu and group.
C T Salian, vice-president, Chandrashekar S Poojary, Bhaskar M Salian, Bhaskar V Bangera, honorary treasurer, Shakunthala K Kotian, secretary of women’s wing shared the dais.
Mohan Das Poojary welcomed, Jyothi K Suvarna compered and Ravindra A Amin delivered the vote of thanks.
