12-hour Shutdown in Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland

Shillong, Sep 6 (IANS): Vehicles went off the roads, schools, banks and government offices remained shut and commercial establishments downed shutters in all the northeastern states, except Assam, Thursday in response to a 12-hour shutdown call by the Northeast Students Organisation, the bandh supporters said.

The bandh was called to protest the entry of migrants into the region and to demand greater security, in the wake of the mass exodus from the southern states of people from the northeast.
