Anti-terror Official Killed in Iraq Blast


Baghdad, Sep 7 (IANS/AKI): A counter-terrorism official in Iraq's Tikrit city was killed when a dynamite-packed bomb exploded in his car, police said.

Ismail al-Jaburi ad al-Sharqat died instantly Thursday and his driver was wounded in the blast.

July was the deadliest month in Iraq since August 2010 with 325 people killed in attacks across the country.

Late Iraqi president Saddam Hussein came from a village near Tikrit.
