Mumbai, Sep 10: The Maharashtra Konkan Association had its 17th nativity feast celebration at Divine Kidders hall in Andheri (West) on Saturday September 8.
Fr Hubert Goveas, parish priest of St Pius Church, Mulund (West) celebrated the festal mass and blessed the new grain.
Fr Hubert in his sermon briefed about the life of Mary and significance of the feast. He said the Nativity feast is a fest of honoring the nature.
It is a harvest feast for the whole family where the day begins with mass with children and devotees adorning Mary with flowers, he said.
After the festal mass, devotees gathered for dinner where different types of vegetarian food were served. Victor Concesso, senior musician conducted the prayer service.
Vincent Mathias, founder president of Christian chamber of commerce & industries, Antony Sequeira, managing director of R Arcadia share & stock broker’s private limited, Francis J Vaz, CEO of Model cooperative bank, Harry Castelino, Moses Gomes, Benedicta B Rebello shared the dais.
On the occasion, dignitaries honored best teacher award winner Jean M Gomes.
Fr Francis thanked Lancy D’Silva and Jessy D’Silva for their financial support by offering flowers.
Walter D’Souza Kalmadi, president of Maharashtra Konkan Association (East) welcomed, Cyril Castelino compered and Vincent Castelino delivered vote of thanks.
Leo Fernandes, convenor, Pramela D’Souza, Keerthi Saldanha, Matilda Rodrigues, Celine D’Souza, Rocky D’Cunha, Helen, Stany Dais, vice president, Gracian D’Souza, treasurer among others were present.
