One Arrested in Rs.5.25 Crore Heist


New Delhi, Sep 30 (IANS): One man has been arrested and five others have been detained for a sensational bank robbery here that left a guard dead, police said Sunday.

Deepak (30) was taken into custody Saturday. Police said they had recovered over Rs.2 crore of the Rs.5.25 crore that was looted from a van carrying cash belonging to ICICI Bank.

The heist took place Friday afternoon in upmarket Defence Colony in Delhi. The guard of the van who was killed was identified as Munna Singh, 40.

The cash van was found abandoned after two hours from south Delhi. Two empty trunks were recovered from it.

The robbers had waited for over 40 minutes in a car which had been stolen from Faridabad in Haryana seven months ago, police said.
