Prayers for Murdered Sikh Family in Brussels


Brussels, Oct 1 (IANS): A gurdwara in Belgium Sunday held prayers for four members of a Sikh family who were brutally murdered at their home.

Prayers in the gurdwara in Vilvorde will continue for the next seven days, the EuAsiaNews reported.

A Sikh woman and her three children were found murdered Friday in their home in Etterbeek area of Brussels. The family hailed from the Ludhiana, India.

The husband, Jasbir Singh, 37, who works in a restaurant has been living in Belgium since the last 15 years.

He told a Belgian TV that he found the children aged three, five and seven, and his wife dead when he returned from work Friday night.

According to the Sikhiwiki, Sikh encyclopedia, more than 10,000 Sikhs live in Belgium, with some 1,000 living in Brussels.
