Apple Pays Tribute to Late Co-founder Steve Jobs

Washington, Oct 6 (IANS): Apple Friday paid tribute to its late co-founder Steve Jobs with a heartfelt video and a note from Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook.

The company dedicated its landing page of Apple.com website with a minute-long video, showing black and white photos of Jobs along with some of his most notable quotes, Xinhua reported.

"Steve's passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for all of us," said Cook in the note posted on the Apple website.

"I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place," he said.

On Oct 5, 2011, a day after Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S smartphone, Jobs passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Most analysts and industry watchers said Cook's pragmatic style so far has served the company well, noting that he made the company more shareholder-friendly, and successfully retained the best supply chain as well as the best management and design team in the industry.

"I'm incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products that our customers love and dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road," Cook was quoted as saying in the message.

"It's a wonderful tribute to Steve's memory and everything he stood for," he said.
