Kanda Issued Forged Certificate to Geetika: Police

New Delhi, Oct 6 (IANS): Former Haryana minister Gopal Goyal Kanda gave a forged experience certificate to former flight attendant Geetika Sharma to create hurdles in her career moves, a chargesheet filed in a court here Saturday.

Kanda did not want to lose Geetika as an employee and forged the certificate in a bid to try and retain her in his company, police said.

The certificate was issued after Kanda came to know that she had got a job in the Emirates Airlines as a stewardess, the formal set of charges said.

The former minister and Aruna Chaddha, ex-official of Kanda's now-defunct MDLR Airlines where Geetika had worked, decided to created hurdles in Geetika's career so that she was forced to return to his company.

Geetika, 23, a former flight attendant of MDLR Airlines, had in her suicide note accused Kanda and Chaddha of harassing and forcing her to kill herself. She died on the night of Aug 4-5 at her house in Delhi's Ashok Vihar area. Kanda and Chaddha have denied the allegations.

Giving details of Geetika's alleged harassment, the chargesheet said Kanda first refused to give her a no-objection certificate (NOC) or experience certificate.

Later, Geetika was given a certificate but a forged one, police said.

"In pursuance of the said criminal conspiracy, a forged NOC dated May 22, 2010 was got prepared by them (Kanda and Chaddha) and issued to Geetika through Monal Sachdeva, an empolyee of the company," said the chargesheet.

"This NOC bore the signature of Rajiv Kumar Parashar, who was not on the payroll of MDLR during the period (for which the experience certificate was prepared)," police said. The signature of Parashar was also forged.

Police said that Parashar had denied that he had signed it.

The forgery was committed with a malafide intention so that in the future, Kanda could deny issuing the NOC and land Geetika in trouble, the chargesheet said.

Geetika was selected for appointment in Emirates Airlines April 26, 2010. Geetika accepted the certificate believing it to be genuine.

Kanda with Chaddha went to Dubai July 14 this year and mounted pressure on Geetika to rejoing the former minister's group of companies, but she refused.

The former minister sent to Dubai his aide Chanshivroop Singh who told Emirates Airlines that Geetika had used a forged experience certificate while applying for the job.

Geetika resigned from Emirates later, citing domestic issues at home.

Both Kanda and Chaddha are in judicial custody. Police have accused them of abetting suicide, destroying evidence, criminal intimidation and conspiracy.
