'Mindless Negativity' will Damage Nation's Image, says PM

New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS): The government was committed to doing "everything possible to ensure transparency and accountability" but the negativity and pessimism sought to be created over the issue of corruption could do no good, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Wednesday.

Addressing the 19th Conference of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and State Anti-Corruption Bureaux here, the prime minister said the anti-corruption law would be amended to fill gaps in the legislation and bring it in line with international practices.

"Our government stands firm in its commitment to do everything possible to ensure probity, transparency and accountability in governance," he said.

He warned that the mindless atmosphere of negativity and pessimism that is sought to be created over the issue of corruption can do no good.

"Mindless atmosphere of negativity can only damage the nation's image and hit at the morale of the executive," he said.

Experience had also shown that big ticket corruption is mostly related to operations by commercial entities, Manmohan Singh said.

"Our investigation agencies need to continuously upgrade their skills and techniques to match the newer methods of corruption. The nature of the challenges that a country's anti-corruption agencies face varies with the level of its economic development," he said.

Manmohan Singh said the economic reforms initiated in the early 1990s greatly reduced corrupt practices, associated with controls and the licence-permit raj.

"Faster economic growth led to newer opportunities for corruption, ones associated with specialisation and expansion of an economy," he added.

Our PM is a noted ecocomist in the world and a thinker in that direction too but his actions are a kind of robotic type mostly. He is a clean in person there is no doubt about it but some of his ministers are otherwise?. It is true the corruption is a black spot to our nation and it is watched globally.Political parties are always thinking thier self gain rather than a national gain in many cases and it looks a kind of lucrative business to one and to have one. Politicians want to rule this nation by hook or crook and it is a true fact in many occasions.I strongly support Manmohan Singh the PM of our nation to an extent the word 'Mindless Negativity' of our political parties and the damage they cause to our nation to an extent locally and globally.

Well done PM, ofcourse I do agree the corruption but opposition parties are simply misguiding peoples and barking on the roads to destabilize the government and for political gains and to grasp the vote bank politics. If tomorrow any one wakeup and put some allegations against the government obviously opposition parties are joining hands with them. BJP sunk in the corruption in Karnataka but still they are joining hands with Anna Hazare organization and now with Arvind Kejariwal party, Did they forget about Karnataka, In Karnataka BJP government closed most of the legal doors for example they closed quarry, before they closed steel export but they are exporting the steel from other states which they looted. Why Arvind Kejariwal don’t want to go to court he can file a PIL against Vadhra he is saying that he is having a full evidence with proof so he can got to courtthen court will conduct judiciary enquiry or order an independent probe why he don’t want to go to court. The reason is simple just he was campaigning his party by putting allegations and he want to divert the congress votes to his party. Always BJP’s thinking is NEGATIVE.

There are two faces of corruption.

    1. Money demanded by the babus and politician to do the work which is of free or fee decided by the parliament. ( bribery )

    2. Looting the public money for personal gain. Like traveling in Business class instead of economy class, Travelling in copters for personnel and non political visits, renovating the MP,MLA offices using Tax payers money.

Both faces of corruption is dangerous.
Second one is more dangerous than the first..

Respected PM, The sorry state of Government's Credibility is the reason why there has been a vehement Opposition and Accusation of Corruption in every sector or Policy. The approach of the Government towards unearthing of scams have been nothing but sadistic, with your Top minister's always trying to sweep things under the Carpet. Take the recent Vadra case where instead of Inquiring about the details and publishing the detailed reports, your minister's are rolling out their artillery against Kejriwal. How do you expect the people to have faith in the Government then?
