Cocaine Worth $66 mn Seized in Puerto Rico

Mexico City, Oct 12 (IANS/RIA Novosti): A large batch of cocaine weighing 660 kg worth an estimated value of $66 million in the retail market has been seized in Puerto Rico. It was meant for being shipped to the US.

Puerto Rico police said the drugs were discovered on board of a speedy cutter some 50 nautical miles from the port of Salinas in the south of the island, Latin American media agencies reported.

The total cost of the seized cocaine on a black market is estimated at $16.5 million, but if it was sold on retail in the US the price would have totalled $66 million.

The drugs were supplied supposedly from Venezuela or Columbia to be later transported to the US, according to authorities.
