China Looks to Negotiating Frontier Disputes with India

Beijing, Oct 13 (IANS): Beijing hopes to solve frontier disputes with India through friendly negotiation, Chinese foreign ministry has said.

Chinese foreign ministry's spokesperson Hong Lei said it Friday during a regular press briefing on being asked about Sino-Indian boundary issues and bilateral relations, Xinhua reported.

He also said that the border area has been maintained peacefully and remained stable.

China and India both want to use friendly negotiation when resolving boundary issues, he said, adding that meetings between special representatives of the two countries have been positive.

"China develops in a peaceful way wholeheartedly, and hopes to maintain a friendly and cooperative relationship with India. China wishes to settle boundary issues through negotiation wholeheartedly," Hong said.

To create a brighter future in Sino-Indian relations, the two countries needed to strengthen mutual trust, the Chinese spokesperson added.
