Udupi, Oct 13 : Erection of diocese of Udupi and installation ceremony of the first Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo will be held on Monday October 15, 2 pm onwards, said Fr Stany B Lobo, chairman, Udupi diocese installation committee during the press meet held in Milagres Cathedral on Saturday October 13.
The guests and the bishop designate will be given a grand welcome at the Cathedral entrance at 2 pm. From there, the bishop will enter into the Cathedral and take the first seat on his chair “Kathedra”. After that Holy Eucharistic Mass will be celebrated in the Cathedral grounds.
Apostolic Nuncio in India, Dr Salvatore Pennacchio will be the principal Prelate along with Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo as the main celebrant of the Mass. Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, Dr Ignatius Pinto, Rtd Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, together with more than 35 bishops, 300 priests will take part in the holy Eucharistic celebrations.
The installation of bishop of diocese and erection of Udupi diocese will take place during the Holy Eucharistic Mass.
After the Mass there will be a public reception programme, to be presided over by Dr Salvatore Pennacchio, Apostolic Nuncio in India representative of Pope. The president of Udupi diocese installation committee Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore will welcome the guests.
For the reception programme Dr Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, Dr Ignatius Pinto, Rtd Archbishop of Bangalore Archdiocese, Sri Sri Sri Sugunendrateertha Swamiji of Puthige Math, Dr J J Sadananda, C S I bishop Mangalore, Oscar Fernandes, AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member, Kota Srinivas Poojary, minister for muzrai and district incharge, Udupi, K Jayaprakash Hedge, MP, Udupi – Chikmagalur, Raghupati Bhat, MLA, Udupi, Dr M T Reju, deputy commissioner, Udupi District, Aboobakkar N B, chairman, KMDC, Bangalore, Sunetha S Poojary, president, Kallianpur Panchyat, will be the guest of honour.
