SC Notice to Mamata in Adviser Appointment Case

New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS): The Supreme Court Friday issued a notice to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on a petition challenging the deletion of her name as one of the parties in a case questioning the appointment of Sukumar Mukherjee as chief adviser of the state health department.

An apex court bench of Justice R.M Lodha and Justice Anil R. Dave issued notice saying that it was limited to the question as to why Banerjee should not be made a party to the petition.

However, the court clarified that the notice should not be construed that the allegations made against Banerjee had credibility or otherwise.

Petitioner Kunal Saha has challenged a Calcutta High Court decision dropping Banerjee's name as a respondent in the petition.
