Mamata Warns Media Against Bias

Kolkata, Oct 31 (IANS): Alleging that some media houses are continuing to distort her comments, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tuesday threatened to invoke the law to prohibit them from doing so in future.

"I am repeatedly saying that my comments are being distorted by a section of the media. They are picking a portion of my speeches. I would request you to show or publish my detailed speech," Banerjee said here.

"If you still go on to distort my comments, then we would try to invoke relevant laws in the future," she said.

Earlier, Banerjee took a dig at a section of the media for 'distorting' her comments on fighting dengue. She also alleged that some media houses wanted to control her government and had turned against her as she did not fulfil their demands.

"You can surely criticise the government if it commits any mistake. But you cannot distort my words," she said.
