Sudan Yellow Fever Claims 18 more Lives


Khartoum, Nov 5 (IANS): A deadly yellow fever outbreak in Sudan has claimed 18 more lives, taking the toll from the vector-borne disease to 50.

The latest fatalities were reported in West Darfur state, where 40 more people were infected with the disease, according to Xinhua Sunday.

State Health Minister Ahmed Ishaq Yaqoup said pesticides are being sprayed, and vaccines and mosquito nets are being distributed in the affected areas to tackle the disease.

According to the health ministry, 32 others died elsewhere in the country after suffering from the disease.
