Mangalore: Three Arrested for Theft of Scrap Metal

Mangalore, Nov 5: Police have arrested three people linked to stealing scrap material (iron rods) here at Shanthigudde, Bajpe on Sunday November 4.

The arrested have been identified as Puneeth (23) of Shanthigudde, Abdul Rasheed (28) and Asif (28) from Surathkal.

The arrested along with 12 others entered the CCCL company yard by breaking the fence on October 31 night. The group managed to get away with left over iron rods worth Rs 30,000 as per the complaint filed by Balasubramanyam, project manager.

The police have seized 650 kgs of iron rods worth Rs 30,000 and two trucks. The arrested were produced before court the and were remanded to judicial custody for 15 days. The search is on to trace others.

Dinakar Shetty, Bajpe inspector, SI Ananth Murudeshwar, Shankar Nayari, ASI, Seethram Gowda,  ASI, head constables – Rajesh, Umesh, Lucos, PC Jayananda, Basavaraj, Shashidar, Chandrahaas Rai, driver Balachandra under the guidance of Panambur Sp Ravi Kumar investigated the case.
