Mangalore: District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee Meeting Held at ZP

Mangalore, Nov 21: The District Vigilance and Monitoring committee meeting was held at the Dakishina Kannada zilla panchayat meeting hall here on Tuesday, November 20.

Nalin Kumar, MP presided over the meeting. ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash , ZP president Korgappa Naika and ZP vice president Ritesh Shetty were present for the programme.
  
During the meeting, discussions were held on various central government projects like the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, Indira Awaas Yojana, Swarnajayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojana , Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana , Accelerated Rural Water Supply Programme, National Social Assistance Scheme (NSAS) or National Social Assistance Programme and cumulative report on inspection of Rural Development and Panchyath Raj.

As per the NREGA programme, Rs 2 crore 25 lac has been sanctioned to the Bantwal taluk out of which Rs 1 crore 63 lac has been implemented for various works like horticulture, water supply and forest.
 
For Mangalore taluk, Rs 2 crore 38 lac was sanctioned out of which Rs 1 crore 19 lac expenditure is still pending. Out of the Rs 1 crore 19 lac, Rs 47 lac has been spent for water facility, Rs 21 lac for forest department and Rs 57 lac for horticulture.  Meanwhile, member of ZP Rajiva Shetty said that the NREGA funds have been misused by the PDO by issuing self cheques. "In one day, a cheque worth Rs 44,000 thousand has been issued which is a sheer violation of the law. Proper action should be taken against the culprit” he added.

It is also learnt that the ZP panchayat has secured the  fourth place in the state in implementing the National Schemes.

For Puttur taluk, Rs 3 crore 85 lac was sanctioned but the work in Puttur is very slow on NREGA. So, an immediate meeting will be arranged to speed up the work.

In Sullia, Rs 504 lac labour budget was sanctioned. But, Sullia is facing a site problem. 

For Beltangady Rs 669 lac was sanctioned out of which Rs 201.64 has been spent.

Laborers of NREGA are urging to implement the policy even to the rice cultivation and areca crops.

In the meeting, the CEO said that five nodal officers will be appointed soon in order to increase the pace of work.

In the national social assistance scheme, 5253 applications have been received from old aged people for old age pension scheme, 25462 applications for the widow pension scheme and 9,150 from disabled. Hence, 10,409 applications have been disposed.

    All the amounts mentioned are in lacs.
    Is it because lacs is not so n0ticeable than if amount is mentioned in crore\s!!!!
    Issuing self cheques clearly show the motive of the official\s who made out the cheques. If same method of making out self cheques in every taluk, the money sanctioned is not for development but for the officials to pocket the same.
    Nalin may be hand in glove with this arrangements -
