Udupi: Thieves Strike at Two Houses in City

Udupi, Nov 27: Thieves struck at two houses in the city near Yermal Badaa and fled with valuables on Monday November 26 afternoon.

The thieves broke open the door and gained entry into the house of Rajendra Chauta, brother of Yermal entrepreneur Jagjeevan Chauta, located near Kalyani Bar on the National Highway 66. They fled with valuables worth Rs 1.5 lac including a silver idol. The house was left vacant as Rajendra had shifted to his new residence in Padubidri. He used to visit the house on a daily basis.

In another incident, thieves struck at a house next to the petrol pump and decamped with silver ornaments and cash of Rs 6,000.

A case has been registered in Padubidri police station.
