Man Killed in US Plane Crash During Thunderstorm


Washington, Nov 28 (IANS): A man was killed in a small plane crash in the US state of Texas Monday night during thunderstorm, Xinhua reported.

The twin-engine Cessna 421-C crashed about 9.30 p.m. Monday near the town of Wells in Cherokee county, Texas, Lynn Lunsford, spokesperson for the US Federal Aviation Administration, as saying.

The plane was en route to Tulsa Riverside Airport from West Houston Airport when it encountered thunderstorm in east Texas, troopers said.

The pilot apparently lost control and the plane plunged and slammed into a heavily wooded area and exploded into a fireball upon impact, troopers said.

The Texas department of public safety identified the victim as 64-year-old John Thomas Steeper, who is believed to be the pilot and the sole person aboard, according to the website of The Houston Chronicle.
