Mangalore, Nov 29: A python measuring 9.5 feet in length and weighing about 21 kg was caught near Adarsh Nagar in Chilimbigudde here on Wednesday November 28 at around 7:30 pm.
On Wednesday early morning between 2:30 am and 3:30 am, as the dog started to bark, a Sachin Bangera, a resident in the area woke up and looked out from his balcony. He then happened to find a long python near his neighbour's gate and called that neigbhbour, Deen Mohiudeen.
They saw the snake enter a bush in a nearby empty plot. As they could not do much at that early hour, they let it go.
The same evening, the python was again found in the neighbourhood. Snake catcher Charles was called to the spot by Mohiudeen.
Charles happened to find that the snake was too long and heavy and unable to be caught by one person. With the help of Mohiudeen, Sachin, Lalith Mascarehnas and Nadeem Abdul Khader, the snake was finally caught.
The python was taken away by Charles, who will be handing it over to Pilikula.
