6A - Most Preferred Seat on a Plane : Survey

Washington, Nov 29, (PTI) : The perfect seat for passengers on a plane is 6A , as it combines maximum comfort with convenience, a new survey has found.

The poll of over 1,000 airline passengers questioned respondents on their seat preferences, including which section and whether they chose window, middle or aisle seats.

The poll also delved deeper to find out if choices were influenced by lucky numbers as well as odd or even row numbers.

Combining these responses, flight search engine 'Skyscanner' found that the most sought after seat on a standard aircraft is seat 6A.

The survey supports previous studies which have found that the front six rows of the plane are the most popular, taking 45 per cent of the votes, and booking seats in this section on certain aircarft is actually 8 pounds instead of the standard 3 pounds charged to pre-book seats in any other section.

More surprising is the number of passengers who prefer the window seat – almost 60 per cent - compared to just 40 per cent who opt for the aisle, with less than 1 per cent choosing the middle seat.

"There is always a great rush to get on board and get that favoured seat and I think it is really interesting that there are so many differing opinions on this.

"I just hope that the low cost carriers don't find out that there is such demand for seat 6A and start charging a premium for it," Skyscanner's travel editor, Sam Baldwin, said.

The survey also found that the seat no-one wanted was 31E, a middle seat towards the back of the aircraft.

Other seats that ranked high in the survey were middle seats over the wings as passengers say they're less likely to feel turbulence there.

Many people choose seat number 6(A) because of more leg room space as it is exit row seat. This exit row may not be the same number on all flights around the world as the design and size of the flights are different and the numbers may change. But people always prefer exit row seat as it has more leg room space.

Guess they failed to survey 6B-seat, if they did for sure it would be ladies seat and its obvious 6A men would have preferred on a Plane.

Sky scanner’s survey on most preferred airline seat no 6A has gone viral worldwide across all media websites just like PSY's Gangnam Style, which may be true for airlines who have established a strong reputation over a period of time for their safety and service viz. Singapore Airlines, Air France, British Airways, Emirates or Etihad, however this survey may not hold true for “Every Mangalorean’s Majboori Airline” AIRINDIA EXPRESS.

As per a local Kudla research the preferable seat numbers on Air India Express are 7A, 17C, 19A, 19C, 20C, 21C, 23D & 23F( these are the seat numbers of the only 08 survivors on the ill-fated Flight 812 which killed 158 people( may their soul rest in peace)

All these surveys are done to impress someone they don’t serve any purpose and should be ignored. Just pray to God, remember ur dear and near ones, and hope you reach home safely.

    What's all this about- 6A
    1) Does this 'Seat' wallah get preferential treatment?
2)Does he 'board' or alight first?
    3) In case of an 'emergency' is 6A taken care ahead of others?
    4) Do Hijackers if any never bother about 6A?
5)Have Seen so many Air crash Investigations in the 'NG' channel- Never in one case was seat no '6A'a stand out or the proverbial lucky one!
6)Does seat 6A change any one for the better after the flight?
'What seat- What survey- What premium-'When life in itself is one short journey-You Come without baggage, and have to leave without one-and here you are carrying out survey's- about a petty seat giving it a number'!
    Therefore Hey
    There ain't much in a 6A !!

In my case I always prefer to stay in the front seat. For the last few years I used to fly from Riyadh to Mangalore by Jet Airways. Now I have changed my flights either Air India or Saudia because of Jet airways very conjusted seat. Jet airways getting worst day by day. They are serving food like someone giving a charity food. Very very bad quality. Also their service is gone zero standard. In fact they are getting labour class to their gulf sector from Bangladesh, Nepal, Philippines etc. so they are treating all the passengers like labours.
