Vietnam Mobile Company Forays into Myanmar


Yangon, Dec 1 (IANS): Vietnam's state-owned company Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company has opened a representative office in Yangon in a bid to tap the Myanmar market.

Nguyen Dang Nguyen, deputy director of the company, said Myanmar has opened its doors to foreign investors, particularly in the telecom and information industry.

The Vietnam Mobile Telecom Services Company or VMS, founded in 1993, is a leading mobile operator in Vietnam. VMS sells service under the MobiFone brand, Xinhua reported.

Vietnam's total investments in Myanmar hit $41 million in July 2012.
