Kasargod: Cashew Nut Processing Unit in Seethangoli Catches Fire

Kasargod, Dec 4: A major fire broke out in a cashew nut processing unit in Seethangoli, here on Monday December 3 at around 12.30 pm.

The factory located near Kinfra Park in Seethangoli is owned by K N Kamath and sons.













Fire brigades from Kasargod, Uppala, Kanhangad, Thrikkaripura were called in soon after the incident. Fire department personnel’s took more than three and a half hours to douse the flames and bring the situation under control.

The expensive machineries, huge amounts of raw materials were gutted in the fire and a loss of Rs 2 cr has been estimated.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

As per the information received, five workers who were on duty escaped unhurt as they ran out immediately after the fire broke out.

Sources said that, many industrial units are setup in Kinfra Park, however no such incidents have been reported so far.
