Two Algerian Pilots Die in Mid-air Collision


Algeria, Dec 12 (IANS/EFE): Two Algerian air force pilots died when their planes collided during a training exercise, the defence ministry said Tuesday.

According to the communique, the accident occurred Monday night in the skies over the western province of Tlemecen, bordering Morocco.

The ministry also said that a commission has been set up to investigate the causes and circumstances of the accident.

On Nov 9, six Algerians died in a crash in the town of Trelans, France, when their military cargo plane went down en route from Paris to the North African nation.

The plane crashed about 100 km northwest of Montpellier for reasons still unknown.
