Beijing, Dec 14 (IANS): A total of 911 foreigners have been recently granted green cards or permanent residency in China, the authorities said Thursday.
Green card holders share the same rights and responsibilities as Chinese nationals with the exception of politics, Xinhua reported.
They are also entitled for medical insurance as well as benefits from preferential policies in employment, investment and home purchases etc.
China started issuing green cards in 2004. More than 4,700 foreigners had received green cards by the end of 2011. Nearly 530,000 foreign experts were working in China in 2011.
