ISS Orbit Adjusted

Moscow, Dec 17 (IANS): The orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) has been elevated for the upcoming docking of a Russian manned spaceship.

The ISS orbit was elevated by 2.5 km for the docking of Soyuz spaceship, the Russian Mission Control Center (MCC) said Sunday. The operation was completed successfully.

The Soyuz spaceship was scheduled to lift off from the Baikonur space center Wednesday, Xinhua reported.

It will deliver Russian cosmonaut Roman Romanenko, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, and US astronaut Tomas Marshburn to the ISS.

The docking is planned for Friday.
