Havana, Dec 17 (IANS): Cuba's tourist destinations Varadero and Cayo Coco are among the 25 best beach resorts worldwide, according to a survey by one of the world's largest global travel networks.
Varadero was placed in the 10th spot while Cayo Coco was 20th for the Travellers Choice Prize 2012 conducted by TripAdvisor, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
The top positions went to Providenciales (Turks and Caicos Islands), Palm/Tagle beach (Aruba), Tulum (Mexico), Negril (Jamaica) and Saint Pete Beach, Florida (US).
TripAdvisor carries out yearly surveys from travellers' opinions and guides people interested in finding new, better places.
Varadero has been receiving one million foreign visitors for three consecutive years. Cuba is expected to close 2012 with 2.8 million travellers in over 60,000 rooms at some 300 hotels countrywide.
