Two More Arrested in Delhi Gang-rape Case

New Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS): Two more people have been arrested for the brutal torture and gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus here, police said Tuesday, adding that all the culprits have been identified. The driver of the bus was arrested Monday.

"Two more arrests have been made late Monday night. They have been identified as Mukesh and Kalu," a police official told IANS.

Ram Singh, 32, the driver of the bus on which the crime took place, was arrested Monday night.

The official said the alleged attackers have been identified on the basis of the CCTV footage of the bus and statement from the male friend who accompanied the unfortunate girl.

All three were arrested from Ravidas Camp slum of R.K. Puram area in south Delhi.

"We have identified all culprits and are making raids in different areas of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to arrest the guilty," the police official said.

He, however, refused to disclose the complete identity of the alleged culprits, saying that the matter is under investigation.

The brutal rape and torture occurred Sunday night when the girl and her friend boarded a private bus at Munirka to go to Dwarka after watching a movie.

The woman was beaten up and raped by the men inside the bus. There were seven men in the bus. Both the woman and her male friend, who was also beaten up when he resisted, were thrown off the bus near Mahipalpur.

This gives a bad name to the country and its people.

This happens only because,,, people commiting these types of acts, think they can get away with this.

High time to ponder over for all of us why such incidents increasing in India over and over again...We are on the verge to be turning as a superpower. It's a shame while crime rate accelerate. Current incident is just a sample which is under lime light bcoz it happened in capital city. There are many many such heinous cases recorded across the country either in small cities, towns or in isolated regions which are hardly we have been through like this. We should find out what are the prime causes such things let happen.
Repot says that rapist were drunken which means alcohol plays major role. Secondly, the capital punishment exception encourages such crimes happen over again and thirdly our sisters must think how should they be like when they step out from their houses.
The bottom line for better results is, ban alcohol implement capital punishment for the rapist and women try cover their bodies as thickly as they can.

My prayers are with the victim whose intestine even is said to be ruptured, so cruel were the attackers, who were under the influence of alcohol.

As Ms. Girija Vyas demanded, let there be a fast track court to deal with such matters before political influence affects the case. No culprit is forgivable no matter which part of the country the crime of sexual abuse take place.
