Government Waging 'War' Against People: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS): With curfew imposed in the heart of Delhi to stop protests near the presidential palace, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the government of waging "war" against the people.

With prohibitory orders imposed in parts of the city centre following unending protests in the wake of a 23-year-old woman's rape, Kejriwal told reporters: "This is illegitimate. How can they impose section 144?"

"If the government would have shown such resolve to deal with rapists, the situation would have been different. It seems the government is waging war against its own people."

Prohibitory orders banning the assembly of five or more people have been imposed around parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan including India Gate area, Rajpath and Janpath.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence on Janpath also saw protests over last few days.

Why is the Govt so passive? Is it waiting for the situation to cool down or to get out of control? By now the culprits should have been taken to court. All cases involving rape and murder should be tried in fast track courts with daily hearings.

Our law need to be overhauled to deal with Un-abated crimes such as rapes, murder, riots etc. Quick justice delivery system is must, fair trial is o.k. but it should be very quick. Diminishing moral values are real reason for such acts, which we saw during riots, Orissa riots, a NUN was raped.

Request to the Indian Government, please don't waste any more time to take action against such criminals. Just hang them in front of public or even more as they should die every single milliseconds of the life and amend the same law against the rape cases, finish it off as this should not repeat again. This incident is not considered as a small incident as this is a threat to all Indians who has to think twice before going out of their houses.
