Leadership should Offer Solutions: Kiran Bedi

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS): It is time the police and political leadership provided "solutions, not suggestions" in the wake of protests against the gang-rape of a young woman, former police officer Kiran Bedi said Sunday.

The "political and administrative leadership" should also pacify the mass of young men and women protesting against the assault on the 23-year-old a week ago.

Bedi said Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar, Home Secretary R.K. Singh and Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde should offer "solutions, not suggestions".

"The police commissioner, chief minister, home secretary and home minister collectively need to address (the protesters)," Bedi told a news channel.

"They need to come forward and give solutions in a time bound matter... but it is not happening, unfortunately."

Speaking on the lack of safety for women, Bedi said: "Crime against women is a national disease, it needs to be addressed nationally.

"There is not a woman in India, including me, who has not suffered harassment in her life," she said.

Out dated Law should be revamped quick justice delivery system should be implemented.
Trial of of the accused should be quick. All over India, crimes are increasing.
Human values also have diminished in recent times, during Orissa riots, a Nun was raped by mob.
Not justification for such heinous crime, but one point is reducing female ratio, should also be addressed urgently.

I agree with you madam. This govt is moving in trackless path. They were elected to protect us and they have forgotten this.

Today they dismissed five policemen from service. I don't think it is fault of these policemen. It is the fault of total security system in Delhi. These 5 policemen were not watching the rape incident. Study says there were not enough policemen, security guards in Delhi. There is no proper security system in place. This is fault of Delhi and central Govt. Ideally Delhi CM, HM Shinde should have been kicked out. This congress team is busy making false allegations against Modi saying minority are not safe in guj. Now it is the time for Congress people to learn from Modi.
