Shinde Appears to Equate Protesters with Maoists

New Delhi, Dec 24 (PTI): As the political leadership struggled to deal with public anger over gangrape of a girl here, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today appeared to bracket angry protesters at India Gate with armed Maoists.

"It is very easy to ask the Home Minister to go to India Gate and talk. Tomorrow if any other party's demonstration goes on why should not the Home Minister go there. Tomorrow Congress and BJP will demonstrate, tomorrow Maoists will come here to demonstrate with weapons," he said in various interviews.

Shinde said the people should understand the government's role and the government should not go anywhere.

"This will happen tomorrow, for any government. Why should the government go anywhere?" he said.

Asked whether he was trying to compare the protesters with the Maoists, the Home Minister said, "You don't separate it from law and order. I have already talked about it....Since the day they started the agitation, I had met them in my house, in my office...I met their representatives.

"After doing all these if they say we want justice what kind of justice will we give? There should be some limit, we have accepted all the demands," he said.

Vinay,Mangalore..Who made you Home Minister???? you really dont know the answer, its very simple, for some party only doing “CHAPRAASI” seve for the family from Laundry, to cooking at their home will entitle you to such posts & even higher until the supreme authority. The performance in the area of “LOOTMAAR” comes second.Caste comes third & Experience & Talent & Honesty comes in the last lines of requirement…oops what about “Surname”…I forgot to put this in the start.

Btb i saw the interview. He did not says to "Tomorrow Congress and BJP will demonstrate..". Infact he did nto take congress's name , he said tomorrow "XYZ sena witll demonstrate, BJP will demonstrate, moaist....."....why is media twising lines ? Congress is more concerned that BJP may hijack the protest and try to tighten the hook around its neck. They are more concerned about the political outcome, not on the common plights. Thats why brutal force is used against peacfull protesters.

I am agreeing the Shinde, amendment to law is not one day job, they have to follow certain roles and regulation and should look all aspect of the same. Up course strict law to make real culprit hang/ stone. Now the some political party jointed with real protester go get the mail stone and this should be condemned .

As per my Opinion he did not say anything wrong, it depends who you take it. All the protesters should know that some is from our society raped the girl. May be tomorrow some one from the same crowd will do some other criminal acts. It is very difficult to understand every persons mind. The rapist is not come all the way from moon. To protest it is very easy, not to follow the law.

The arrogance of Mr. Shinde can only be matched by his ignorance. Why on earth does he feel that the government should not go anywhere to talk with its people? Are we a democracy or not?
And this pathetic lying has to end somewhere. What does he mean by "accepted all their demands?" There are hundreds of demands, some in conflict with each other, although the crux of the demand is a legislation for harsher punishment for rapists. The government has not done ANYTHING to even remotely suggest that it is considering options to amend the law. Ordering another committee to probe the status of women's security could be done later. What we need now is our elected representatives to respond to its citizens. I'm afraid this government is full of obtuse people like this Mr. Shinde, and on another level the imbecile Prime Minister who can barely manage a televised address to the nation. Shame on this country.

Look at the last sentence what kind of justice we need means, amend the law and punish the culprits.
Is this the way you are responding to the public? Who made you Home Minister? Whatever you are now, is only because of the public. Public only elected you so dont forget them.
