Cabinet Clears Proposal for Port Development

New Delhi, Dec 26 (IANS): The union cabinet Wednesday approved a proposal for licensing land to concessionaires for seven port projects in the public-private-partnership (PPP) mode.

This will facilitate the shipping ministry to expeditiously augment the capacity of major ports and bring about efficiency in operations to benefit trade and economy as a whole.

The seven projects have been taken up in terms of the extant policy of the government to pursue maritime development projects under the PPP mode.
