Mandela Discharged from Hospital in South Africa

London, Dec 27 (IANS): Former South African president Nelson Mandela has been discharged from hospital, the South African presidency announced Wednesday.

Having been hospitalised 18 days ago, he was treated for a lung infection and gallstones.

Mandela will, however, continue to receive treatment at his home in Johannesburg until he fully recovers, BBC quoted a statement from President Jacob Zuma's office as saying.

His wife Graca Machel and President Zuma visited him on Christmas Day and said he was in good spirits.
