Udupi, Jan 4: In a tragic incident at Kunjarugiri at Padubelle, Shirva, 50 grams of gold and Rs 10 thousand in cash was stolen from the house of Damodhar Samaga. theft_040113-1 to 10

It is learnt that the incident occurred at around 4 am. The robbers entered the house by displacing the tiles of roof and barged into the kitchen and later moved to the bedroom of Damodhar Samaga. One of the robbers threatened Damodhar Samaga with a knife and looted a 25 gram gold chain from him.

Suma Samaga, wife of Damodhar Samaga, and their two children witnessed this incident.

Udupi SP Boralingaiah, DYSP Prabhudev Mane, Kaup circle inspector Shivananda Valekar and Shirva sub-inspector K R Nayak inspected the spot. Further investigations are being carried out.

    Days are not far off that a situation is on cards wherein every household in DK/Udupi will apply for a licence to own a revolver/gun to meet the contigency.
