Asaram Fuels another Row, Calls Critics, Media Barking Dogs

New Delhi, Jan 8 (PTI) : Unfazed by the outrage sparked by his remark against the Delhi gangrape victim, Spiritual leader Asaram Bapu today sought to justify the comments and compared all those criticising him to "barking dogs".

Asaram also compared himself to an elephant who will not respond to "barking dogs" and said his remarks in connection with the December 16 gangrape incident were misconstrued by the media and his critics.

"First one dog barked. Then another dog barked. Soon all the dogs in the neighbourhood started barking," he said addressing his supporters.

"Now if the elephant runs behind the dogs, then their (dogs) value increases and that of the elephant comes down," Asam said gesturing towards himself. "They can say what they like. I don't care. I still maintain why should I run behind the dogs."

Asaram was at the centre of a controversy yesterday after he suggested that the 23-year-old gangrape victim was equally responsible for the ghastly crime and said the girl could have called her assailants brothers and begged them to stop.

"Now what did I say wrong. A man approached me and said my wife fights with me. So I said you can't with one hand. So what's wrong with that. Now this comment was joined with another comment," he said trying to underplay the controversy.

"Does an elephant give importance to dogs by reacting? he said, adding, "let people infer what they want."

Asaram later told reporters his remarks about the gangrape victim were misconstrued by his critics and the media.

The spiritual leader claimed if his speech was understood in the proper context people would be respecting him for his comments in the Delhi gangrape case.

Asaram said through the years he has achieved a high status and commanded respect in the socety as a result of which he had attracted many critics.

Asaram also said he did not intend to harm anybody and that he wished the well being of all

Our scriptures have advocated use of force against unrighteous people and decalred that it is not a voilence and is fully justified.

The preaching of Asaram can be compared with the begging of Gandhi with the Jinnah and others against partition and protecting them though they unleashed violence against Hindus.

Because of such attitude of our leaders, anti-nationals like Owaisi are living safely in India and are threatening the Hindus of destructing.

But, we never use derogatory words against Gandhi due to his spiritual strength and the same should be applied to Asaram Bapu.

In stead, we should direct the outrage against traitors and criminals like Owaisi, Kasab and the rapists.

A girl can walk fearlesly through forests in my village, but the same is not possibe in a crowded city.

    Prevention is better than cure.

We should take the following measures immediately:

    1. Ban vulgar and violence in movies and TV serials
    2. Dress code to women in public places.
    3. Ban on alcohol
    4. Modern and professional police
    5. People may criticise, but it is a fact that prostitution reduces rapes. These people might not have committed this crime if they had easy access to prostitutes. Hence, there should be licence and regulation for prostitution as a profession. In fact, prostitution is one of the oldest professions of the world.

The dogs bark as an alarm to catch the thief.First one dog barks ,then another dog barks .Soon all the dogs in the neighborhood start barking. One thief recognizes the other. The dogs have recognized the culprit. If this DOG claims himself to be an elephant, he needs to be tamed.
