Owaisi Faces Charges of Sedition, Waging War

Hyderabad, Jan 9 (IANS): Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, sent to jail Wednesday for a hate speech, is facing serious charges ranging from sedition to waging war against the government.

Police in Nirmal town, which booked the legislator Jan 3 under two sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), added five more charges before producing him at a magistrate's house early Wednesday.

Police had initially booked the legislator for promoting enmity between different groups and doing acts prejudicial to harmony as well as waging or attempting to wage war against the state.

The latter charge carries death sentence or life imprisonment.

Akbar, a member of Andhra Pradesh assembly, now faces five other charges: criminal conspiracy, sedition, threatening people to give false evidence, doing public mischief and disobeying official orders.

    I have not heard his hate speech,as I do not want to waste time over stupidity. I hope he is severely punished for it.

    But are there different kinds of hate speech ?. It appears so as people like Uma Bharathi, Modi and our own Kalladka Bhat and Nalin Kumar, not to mention the goonda groups like BJD etc, who have uttered hate speeches and actually indulged in violence based on hate seem to be roaming with impunity.

    Some of you who have put comments seem to be insinuating that there are different types of hate speech, one that you approve of and one that you do not.

    You cannot have two sets of rules based on whose hate speech it is, the same rule should apply to all.

    Condemn such way that this OWAISI should be striped of MLA,Citizenship,even all rights(right to vote/right to contest election etc etc.He should be booked under GOONDA Act.Whoever does, be he HINDU or MUSLIM,should be dealt as per rule of land>Even fast track court also advisable.

    Well done Andhra Police. When Karnataka Police is going to act. In fact Owaisee’s speech was Muslim version of the speeches delivered by Praveen Togadia and Adityanath (BJP MP from Gorakhpur) It is nothing compared to what several Hindu fundamentalist leaders have delivered in the past and got away. Different rule for different people.

    NOW ONE MORE IDIOT TO ADD IN THE LIST OF ANTI SOCIAL ELEMENTS WHICH INCLUDE IN HUMAN PEOPLE LIKE PRABHAKARA BATT, MUTALLIC,MODI ETC..ITS NOTHING BUT FOR CHEEP PUBLICITY. SHOULD BE BANNED FROM WHOLE SOCIAL SYSTEM AND IF POSSIBLE EXHALED OUT OF COUNTRY.

    @ Peter & Ifthikar..no other relegious urged people to kill belonging to other communities...This may be one of its kind..where this thug demended 10 mins of freedom from police to kill all the hindus in India and break the killing record of hindus in last 1000 years. Do you have any answer for such stupidity.
    For me he is no less than Kasab and Afzal Guru.

    If one listens to Owaisi's hate speech(two hrs duration) not only Hindus even Muslims will boil in anger.Such was the intensisty of hatredness.In fact Akbaruddin Owaisi is not a supporter of Muslims but can cause great danger for them if not taken to task.He is a enemy of Muslims.Police, weldone in protecting Muslims interest.Readers please think positive aspects while commenting.

    Hate speech should be stopped and be punished who deliver it. However, why particular community leaders are charged and others are scott free ? Why the one who delivered hate speech in Mangalore is not booked ? Different law for different people ?
