Udupi: Coastal Development Authority Presents New Proposal for 2012-2013 Budget

Udupi, Jan 10: Newly elected Coastal Development Authority Chairman, Tingalay Vikramarjuna Hegde and Kodgi forwarded the new proposal for discussion, which will be confirmed and put forth to the government for the 2012-2013 budget at D C office, Rajathadri, Manipal on Wednesday January 9.

The third financial commission proposal was reviewed with the officials and other members before forwarding it to the state government. Total of Rs 100 crores will be the demand of the Coastal Development Authority and then the total upliftment of the coastal district will be proposed.

As per the commission ZP will be allotted Rs 5 to 10 crores along with the power to execute it independently.

As per the state financial authority, every gram panchayat will avail upto Rs 12 to 15 Lac. Including the incentive grants and stable drinking water Rs 309 crores of the project will be used. Villages will be given more importance. Building constructions at GP will be given grants up to Rs 30 Lac. Panchayats will be given concessions for drinking water and street light bill.

Proper use of 'Sawbhagya Sanjeevini Scheme' will be made through the investment of Rs 10 crores and the construction which has been stopped will be soon made to commence.

Drinking water project and compulsory meter will be implemented (around Rs 2500 Crore). In schools and anganvadi, construction of toilets will be made mandatory, grant for the same will be provided.

Tax collection and implementation of tax to the necessary people will be compulsorily followed.

Below poverty line members should be identified and then Under Indira Awas Yojana their loan will be waved off. Every house should have compulsory toilet and importance to the compulsory will be more this year. BPL students will be given free education.

"Vajpai Arogya Yojana will be availed in the district with maximum effect. At present there are certain issues for cancer research and Rs 1.5 lac will be allotted from government but it is too less, so further whatever possible will be done in this issue", said Kodgi.

People below poverty line will be given loans worth Rs 70,000 and it will be increased to Rs 1 lac for the building.

Farmers will be given a monthly aid of Rs 500 to Rs 1000 under Sandya Suraksha Yojana.  Old age limit will be 60 to 80, pension amount will be increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1000, a total of Rs 3000 crores has been allocated for the same. The equipments for the use of agriculture will be given at a subsidy rate. Free compost to the field will be provided.

Road transportation schemes will be introduced, National Highway and State road connectivity will be made in the right way. As Udupi is located in the costal belt, during the monsoon there are chances of serious damage. Hence the road issue will be given more attention.

Road and drainage systems will be implemented at the village level. Rs 2000 Crore, women self reliance group will be provided as a loan with low interest rates.

Village area activities like folk art, sports and culture will be given more importance. Government staff requirement will be filled soon.

Forests will be protected with better sources; agriculture will be given importance. Solar power will be used more and financial aid will be given to the same. All villages will be brought under Suvarna Grama. Fishermen aid must be increased in order to uplift the community.

"People living near the the sewage or unsanitary areas will be provided with better housing facilities. All in need should be given equal financial support ” said Kodgi.
