Nuri Sahin Returns to Borussia Dortmund

Berlin, Jan 12 (IANS): Reigning Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund brought back Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin on long-term loan following a disappointing spell at Real Madrid, the club announced.

Nuri Sahin left Borussia Dortmund after the title-winning season 2010-2011 to sign a contract with Real Madrid until 2017, reports Xinhua.

However, he made little impact at Real Madrid, as he was unable to break into the starting lineup due to injuries. In addition the 24-year-old Turkish international was loaned out to English club Liverpool where he became a bench warmer due to limited playing time.

Thus Sahin opted for a loan deal at Borussia Dortmund that will bind him until the end of the 2013-2014 season.

"I'm happy to be back home and I hope I can join the team as soon as possible," Sahin said. Sahin is the youngest player who has played in the Bundesliga when he made his first appearance on Aug 6, 2005, at 16 years and 334 days.

During his six years, from 2005 until 2011, at the "BVB" he scored 13 goals in 135 matches.

"Nuri Sahin is a special player for Dortmund who is always welcome. We are delighted to welcome another player with these sporting and personal qualities," Dortmund chairman of the board Hans Joachim Watzke said.
