M'lore: 'Kon Ulaitha' Konkani Play Charms Theatre Fans

Mangalore, Jan 19: Konkani drama lovers had a delightful and entertaining evening on Saturday January 19 with ‘Kon Ulaitha’ a socio-comedy play being staged at Town Hall here.

The play was organized by Society of St Vincent De Paul of St Lawrence parish, Bondel, with an aim to help the needy from the funds raised.

Prior to the play, a stage programme was held wherein Walter Stephen Mendes, president of Divine Word Charitable Trust was the chief guest.

Fr Andrew D’Souza, parish priest; Fr Francis D’Souza, spiritual director of Society of St Vincent De Paul; Florence Mendes; Jerald Pinto; Rudolp Pinto; Reginald D’Souza and Ronald Lasrado shared the dais.

Addressing the gathering, Stephen Mendes said that a person is a true Catholic when he renders his service to the Society of St Vincent De Paul, as god says 'it is not enough if you pray, you should help others'.

He lauded the good work put in by the Society in uplifting the needy and also urged people to help others in their need. He also promised his support in all their activities.

Fr Francis also expressed his gratitude for the initiative taken by the society of St Vincent De Paul for a good cause.

'Kon Ulaitha' Konkani play was directed by Dolla Mangalore and written by Nellu Permanur. Claud D’Souza Bendur was the assistant director.

The music was composed by Alan Lobo, Ranipur, Vonil Veigas, Bangalore; with makeup by Giriyappa Idya; stage setup by William Pinto; and sound effects and lighting by Angels Padil and Chris Electronics.

Felix Lasrado, Vernon D’Souza, Sunil Crasta Bajal, Shashiraj D’Souza Ranipur, Dimple Pinto Ashoknagar, Mazy Nazareth Angelore, Melwyn Almeida Valencia, Alwyn C Veigas, Nellu Permanur, Sanjith Rodrigues, Judy D’Souza, Clita Noronha among others performed in the play.

The play enthralled the audience with a fair dose of humour and at the same time, conveying a meaning message relevant to society. The evening on the whole was a grand success based on the response received from the audience.
