Former 'Mr India' Rex Varghese commits suicide

Thrissur, Jan 22 (PTI): Former 'Mr India' Rex Varghese allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house here today, police said.

Body of the 34-year-old was found hanging at his house at Koratty near here this morning, they said.

Rex, a bachelor, won the 'Mr India' title in 2007 and worked in Railways for a short period. Presently he was unemployed.

Investigations are on to ascertain the reason of suicide.

    suicide takes a lot of courage to actually do it. Many of us have contemplated suicide but have never done. Its just the easy way out of your misery. You or I or anyone dont know whats in store for us ahead. Knowing him personally, he was a strong and very friendly man.

    Very sad. Not even a single comment here justifies his ultimate death. We as humans are tend to be fragile , and society is very cruel. Failure is always orphan and everyone is pressurised to be ' success'. The pain of unemployment or not doing well in life is very gruesome in this competative world. Every act has reasons , so he chose to go this way. It would have been avoided , but we comment here only because he died. And thats realy' sorry'

    Very bad decision. Suicide was not the solution. Former Mr.India Rex Varghese, MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE. Nobody knows the reason for his deadly step. We feel sorry to see such a well built youngster had to go this way. May God give strength and courage to bare the loss of their loved one.

    I am very sad to know about the death of Rex, and even more sad by wondering if unemployment was the cause of his death?

    Many Christian talented athletes and artists, students suffer silently due to lack of recognition and financial support, while Tom, Dick and Harry in the cricket field make enough money to feed their generations to come.

    I am so sad to read that such a talented Rex was unemployed and keep wondering if unemployment was the cause of ending his own life.

    We don't know how many Christian athletes like him suffer silently while Tom Dick and Harry in cricket make money to feed for all their generations!!

    Feel sad to read this news. I do not understand why these people who have come up in life in spite of so many struggles, end up with suicide on a later date. May the Almighty give strength to his parents to bear this.
