Delhi gang-rape victim scores 73 per cent in her last exam

Dehradun, Jan 24 (PTI): The institute, where the Delhi gang-rape victim was studying physiotherapy, has said that the braveheart was a "good scholar" and secured first division marks in her last exam, better than most of her classmates.

"The 23-year-old girl was enrolled for the four-year physiotherapy course here in 2008 and she secured a first division with 73 per cent marks in the last exam of her life," Dean of the Sai Institute, Harish Arora said.

"She (Delhi gang-rape victim) got better marks than most of her classmates as the average is around 55 to 65 per cent," he said.

She got 800 out of 1,100 marks in six papers in tests conducted last year by HNB Garhwal University (a central varsity), Arora said, adding that it was after this examination that she had left for Delhi late last year to do the internship at a Delhi hospital.

Giving the break up of her marks, the Dean said she got 124 out of 200 in physiotherapy orthopaedics; 147 out of 200 in physiotherapy neurology; 151 out of 200 in physiotherapy cardiology; 144 out of 200 in physiotherapy medicine; 74 out of 100 in physiotherapy biostatics, and 160 out of 200 in clinical project.

The institute has also decided to return the entire course fee to her family and an award to brave girl as a mark of respect.

"The institute administration has decided to refund Rs 1.80 lakh deposited by her at the time of her admission here in 2008," Arora said.

He said he would personally go to Delhi at the earliest to hand over a cheque of the amount to the victim's parent.

Showering praise on the girl for her positive nature, the ability to make friends easily and motivate other students, the Dean said it has also been decided to institute an award in her name.

The victim, a paramedical student, was brutally gang-raped in a moving bus on December 16, and then thrown out of he vehicle along with her male friend, leading to the nation wide protests against the incident.

    Very heartening....

It is time for Shinde to act to ensure these incidents are not repeated, instead of calling innocent citizens as terrors.

Arrest the real terrors, rapists and hang them.

Death sentence ? Amputate legs/hands ? NO..NOTHING..Jsutice Verma committe has rejected death or amputating legs of rapists.Because it violates human rights rules. So, ONLY LIFE IMPRISONMENT..
I wonder why thest committe members don't understand the pain of victims and their family members. Why do they have soft corner towards rapists and their family members ?. They will understand only when their daughters and sisters get raped.Till that we have to wait..HANE BARAHA..
