Mangalore: 'Kaizen-2013' held at AIMIT

Mangalore, Jan 25: ‘Kaizen-2013’, the program to introduce under graduate students of BBM and B Com students of St Aloysius College, Mangalore, to Management studies at AIMIT was held at the AIMIT CAMPUS of St Aloysius College on 24 January.aimit_250113-1 to 32

The programme began with prayer song sung by the choir. It was followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the dais and the participating students.


The dean of MBA department Dr Rowena Wright, dean (Academics) welcomed the gathering. Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, gave a brief information about the history of Jesuits and also about the mission, objective and the activities conducted in AIMIT.

Starting with the quote by Dr Abdul Kalam, when he visited St Aloysius College to inaugurate the IT Centre, “Jesuit tradition is a tradition of traditions”; Fr Denzil explained how Jesuit education has been there for the last 500 years and that it is the only management in the world which has been educating students continuously for almost five centuries.  


He also spoke on the various activities being conducted by the MBA department and the facilities students have for learning.  He spoke of the vision for AIMIT-to be one of the top ten B-Schools in India within next 5-7 years.

Fr Oswald Mascarenhas, chairman, MBA department, gave a detailed information about the MBA programme and also spoke about the various new subjects been taught at AIMIT (creativity and innovation, business ethics and turnaround management). he also briefed on the business consultancy projects and also on summer internship projects.

The student affair dean professor Ramesh Kamath addressed the students gathered and gave a talk on importance of higher studies and the facilities provided at AIMIT.

The placement co-ordinator professor Venkatesh Amin interacted with students and spoke of various placement activities being conducted to prepare students to face interviews and get placed in reputed companies which come for campus recruitment. He also spoke about the teaching methodology and also about the management labs.

After the lunch break the students were taken on a tour of the campus.

Cultural programme was conducted by the students of AIMIT to entertain the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by the student co-ordinator, Shubhalaxmi CB.
