Gang-rape victim wants to withdraw complaint


New Delhi, Jan 26 (IANS): A 20-year-old woman, who alleged she was abducted and gang-raped by four men, sought to withdraw her charges after the accused were arrested, police said Friday.

According to police, she knew one of the accused and wanted to marry him.

"Bablu and Gaurav, aged in their early 20s were arrested Thursday from K.N. Kaju area in north Delhi for raping the women Jan 23," said a senior police officer.

In her complaint, she alleged that she was kidnapped by Bablu and his three friends from near her house, taken to an isolated area and raped in turns.

On her complaint, police arrested the two accused after a medical examination of the victim confirmed rape.

"Today (Friday) she came to police station and told police that she wanted to take the complaint back," an officer told IANS.

"We are looking into the case. Once the case has been registered it will be sorted out in the court," said officer.
