Bantwal: Eight injured as rickshaw falls into gorge

Bantwal, Jan 30: Eight persons were injured when a rickshaw fell off the road into a gorge near Mehinapete in Vittal on Tuesday January 29.

It is learnt that the rickshaw was ferrying passengers from Vittal. The mishap occured near Kallakatta when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a curve. The rickshaw is said to be completely damaged.

Injured Narayan Alatadka, Nasir Nooji, Beepathumma, Umavathi Kundadka, Chenappa Kundadka, Vidhya Kundadka, Ramachandra Kundadka were admitted to Vittal community hospital.

The condition of another passenger Yamuna (58), who was stuck under the rickshaw is said to be critical. She is now admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.

Ananda Kundadka and driver Louis escaped without injuries.
